Meet This Year’s Featured Artist
Each year, the KRINGLE Holiday Countdown will showcase the talent of a local artist whose creativity helps make Greenville’s newest holiday tradition truly one of a kind. We are honored to introduce this year’s featured artist, Phillip McCreight, whose original artwork graces the cover of our inaugural calendar.
About Phillip McCreight
Phil McCreight is a Greenville-based watercolor and ink artist known for a quick, kinetic style of urban sketching. About ten years ago, he picked up a small watercolor set and some ink pens, mostly because they were easy to carry on work trips, and started sketching the architecture of the cities he visited in the evenings. What started as a habit became a public body of work, including pieces shown at the 2023 Artisphere Artists of the Upstate Juried Exhibition.
He gravitates toward architecture, though his subjects range from Greenville landmarks to his Mill House Series, a tribute to the families who built the Upstate’s textile mills. Imagine, Explore, Create, Share is a motto he carries into everything he does, from his art to his day job as VP of Continuous Improvement at Integrated Power Services.

Phil’s Vision
I chose this view because it’s the most expansive look at Greenville I could put in one piece: the Reedy River, Liberty Bridge, and the downtown architecture, including the Hotel Bohemian. It’s the view most people picture when they think of Greenville, so it felt like the right one to build a holiday scene around.
My goal was to make it feel festive without losing what makes it recognizable. I wanted people to pick out the details they know and feel like they’re looking at home, dressed up for the season.
